Canadian School Goes Global
I could only nod my head in agreement at the headline in this Saturday’s Globe, “Canadian schools are world-class, but don’t do a good job marketing themselves”. It’s a common refrain, whether it’s a school, an advanced manufacturer or a services company.
So hurray to Branksome Hall, which is bucking the trend and opening a campus in Korea. Since my mission is to take more great Canadian companies global, I’m thrilled to see this. It certainly isn’t the only Canadian school to open abroad – there are a number of universities, business schools and others in joint ventures and with facilities overseas. All the same, it’s great that another world-class Canadian business is taking its product far beyond the Canadian border. What’s even better about this situation is that not only is it going to generate revenues for a Canadian company, but it will likely bring new international talent (ie bright Korean women who’ve been exposed to Canadian culture through their time at Branksome Asia) to Canada too. And that’s great news for all of us.
